Passed away peacefully, having just turned 89, at Tucker Hall in Saint John, NB on October 19, 2023. He is predeceased by his parents, Carl Sr. and Margaret (Head), and his brother, Howard. He is survived by his daughter, Debbie, his sons Paul and Terry, Nancy who he really never got over, and a bunch of younger people who owe their existence to him. Carl had proud Prince Edward Island roots, with his grandfather being partner of Prowse Department Store in Charlottetown, PEI, Mayor of the City for a period and Senator of Canada. Carl lived life on his own terms, mainly residing in Charlottetown, PEI, Saint John, NB and Scarborough, ON, when the family was young. Carl was intelligent, thoughtful and had a good sense of humour around those he cared for; not so much around those he didn’t. He was in virtual heaven whenever he spent quiet time outdoors, especially on the beaches of PEI in early morning. Carl enjoyed life, but always within the shadow of childhood memories that he could never quite shake. It’s not virtual heaven now, but the family is certain that he is slowly and contentedly walking a beach, with spring back in his step and perhaps a black retriever by his side. A funeral service or celebration of life will not be taking place. The family have decided to spread Carl’s ashes on a secluded beach in the near future.
