Elaine Marie THOMSON (Wood) — Charlottetown

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Elaine Marie (Wood) Thomson announces her passing on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Provincial Palliative Care Centre. In addition to her devoted husband of 41 years, Paul Thomson, she is survived by her daughter, Melissa Dodge (Jordan); son, Ryan Thomson (Angela); cherished grandchildren, Charlotte and Harrison Dodge; siblings, Berni Wood, Gene Wood (Marlene), Gerard Wood, Carla Wood-Whitty (Vernon), Karen MacLaren (Johnnie) and Steve Wood (Richele); several nieces and nephews and her fur babies, Mrs. Holmes, Watson, and Frost. Born in Charlottetown on June 7, 1961, Elaine a daughter of the late Alban and Edwina (MacDonald) Wood. In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her sibling, Gerry Wood; and father-in-law, David Thomson. Elaine was a loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend to many. She was the dedicated GM of The Rodd Charlottetown Hotel and cherished not only her staff, but the historic hotel, itself. She was an active volunteer with St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, the Tourism Industry Association of PEI (TIAPEI), Rotary Club of Hillsborough, an active runner, and a diehard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers! After a courageous battle with cancer, and with her family by her side, Elaine gained her wings and went to her eternal home. A special thank you to Dr. Mirelle LeCour, Dr. Janet Baker, Dr. Angie MacLaren and the staff of the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, Dr. Jane Hennessy, Dr. AJ Biswas, QEH Unit 2, Dr. Pierre Whitlock, and the staff of the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre. Resting in Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home for visitation Thursday, October 26th, 5-7 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church on Friday, October 27th at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Columbarium, in Roman Catholic Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Rodd Charlottetown Hotel, commencing at 1 p.m. As per Elaine’s request, please wear bright colors to honor her!
