The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, of Florence Elizabeth Houston, of Cornwall. She was the daughter of the late Clifford and May (Green) Proud of Hampshire. Florence married Orville Houston in 1955 and they were blessed with four children: Larry (Lorrie), Saskatchewan; Carla Thibault (Tim), Nova Scotia; Kenny (Stephanie), Ontario; Ron (Lisa), P.E.I. She was the loving grandmother of Marc Lemieux (Erin) and Nicole Lemieux, Saskatchewan; Leah Holt (Steven), Timothy Thibault (Rhea), and Thomas Thibault, Nova Scotia; Laura Habermehl (Caleb), Sweden; Matthew Houston (Lia), Kristine Houston, Lindsay Arndt (Dylan), Jamie Lee Frede (Evan) and Nicole Houston, Ontario; Johnathon Houston and Jacob Houston, Prince Edward Island; and great-grandmother of Keenan, Meleke and Hunter, Saskatchewan; Alyssa, Prince Edward Island; Chace and Ember, Ontario; Liam and Brianna, Spencer and Victoria, Nova Scotia. Florence leaves brothers and sisters, Verna Carr, Ontario; George Proud (Dorothy),P.E.I.; Fulton Proud (Cindi),Ontario; Doris Shannon, P.E.I.; sisters-in-law, Velda Proud and Verden Graham, P.E.I.; brother-in-law, Walter Houston (Marie), P.E.I.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friend, Della Schrader, Ontario. Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by the children’s father, Orville Houston; sister, Mary Graham; brother, Ellsworth Proud; brothers-in-law, Bill Carr, Eldon Shannon and Gordon Graham; nephew, Paul Graham and many dear friends. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow. There will be no visitation or funeral by personal request.
