It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our dear husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, James “Jim” McAllister, on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital at the age of 80 years. He was the son of James and Fanny McAllister (Deer Lake, NL). James is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his son, Jammie (Barb); grandsons, Austin (Alex) and Harrison (Brittney); and his son, Jeffrey. Jim’s three greatest joys in his life were: first, Judy, his partner, confidant, lover, wife and all things in-between; second, the birth of his two sons and third, being of service to anyone, whether helping build something, giving advice, or just being there for support. After more than 30 years of military service, during which he traveled across the country and abroad, living and sharing family experiences that most could not pack into several lifetimes, Jim eventually settled in Charlottetown with Judy to enjoy retired life on PEI. He cherished family, friends, beaches, sunshine and the occasional rum and coke. Throughout this time, he showed his sons how to be strong yet gentle, adventurous yet thoughtful - a role model to be emulated. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to family, friends, the cancer centre, palliative home care, and QEH staff unit 2 for their love and support for Jim and his family. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Church on Thursday, October 12, at 11 a.m., with the interment thereafter. We warmly invite all family and friends to join us back at Jim’s home for a celebration of life. Jim's wishes would be that memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Centre (cheques may be mailed to the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, 93 Murchinson Lane, Charlottetown, PE, C1A 0G3), the PEI Cancer Treatment Centre, or the St. Pius X CWL (please mail cheques to St. Pius X Church, 106 St Peters Rd, Charlottetown, PE C1A 5P2….please note: tax receipts are not available as the CWL does not have charitable status). Messages of condolence may be shared on Jim’s Memorial Page at: www.belvederefh.com
