Age 97, passed away peacefully in Roswell, Georgia, on September 27, 2023. Born in North Bedeque, Prince Edward Island, Canada, on January 5, 1926, Janet Eileen MacMurdo grew up on the family farm. She relished the time spent there over the years with her parents, Norman and Elizabeth Green MacMurdo; her older siblings, Douglas (Anna) and Norma (Ralph); younger brother, Robert (Marion); and many nearby cousins and relatives. Janet attended Prince of Wales College Normal School (now part of UPEI) for training to be a teacher. She taught all ten grades in the one-room schoolhouse in North Bedeque during World War II. A farming neighbor and classmate Denton Clark caught her eye, and when he came back from the war as an Air Force pilot, they were married in 1946. They moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick and then later Montréal, Quebec, for university education and had one child in each location. While Denton served in the Army after earning his Electrical Engineering degrees, Janet established homes in various locations in Canada, and then the family emigrated to New Jersey in 1956. Another baby and another move to Cocoa Beach, Florida, in 1960 led to a whirlwind of rocket launches and entertainment responsibilities at Cape Kennedy and Patrick Air Force Base. Janet was the bedrock of the family home, and valued her faith and church families, education, and a wide network of friends along the way. When Denton became Chairman of RCA Canada, they returned to Montréal and later Toronto. In retirement, they rejoined friends and family, and divided their time between Melbourne, Florida, (Silverlake followed by the Brennity), and Prince Edward Island, Canada (North Bedeque and Chelton), creating more homes in which to live and host family and friends. Janet displayed remarkable and tireless hospitality and made everyone who visited feel at home. She enjoyed golf, skating-including playing hockey, and sewing, knitting, crocheting, painting, and craft projects, playing bridge, closely following current events and reading. She was adept at computers and technology, embracing facetime and texting throughout her 10th decade. After Denton’s passing in 2017, she moved to Georgia to be near her daughter. She was well cared for at Historic Roswell Place and by the loving caregivers of Caravita. Janet was predeceased by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her son, Bryan Denton Clark; daughters, Elizabeth Mary Heather Clark Price (Tom) and Barbara Ann Clark Helander, (Randy); a grandson, Robert Standish Clark Price (Claire), and a great-grandson, Clark Daniel Price. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Wednesday, October 11, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral Thursday, October 12, at the North Bedeque United Church at 1:30 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at the North Bedeque Cemetery.
