At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, October 23, 2023, Lorne Wayne Birt of Covehead, PE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Born in Covehead, PE, on November 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Seymour and Hilda Birt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Roma May (Bagnall) Birt; his brothers, Leslie, Martin and Everett; and his sister, Velma. He is survived by his children, Ronnie Birt, Nancy Birt-Clark (Sebastien Leveque) and Glen Birt (Amanda); his sisters, Myrna Peters (Eddie) and Marlene Pater; grandchildren, Noah, Ellie, Daniel, Margaret, Zander and Xachery; several nieces and nephews. Lorne was a dedicated carpenter for most of his life and was a Volunteer Fire Fighter for 40 years. He enjoyed his motorbike, camping and after Roma passed, he enjoyed making muffins. He had several guitars and enjoyed picking up his hobby again later in life. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, with visitation on Friday, October 27 from 4-7 p.m. His funeral service will be held from Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 28 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in West Covehead Cemetery.
