With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mary Christine Lawley in the QE Hospital, Charlottetown, PEI on Sept 28, 2023. Born in Glace Bay, NS on July 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Rev C.R.F. and Jessie (MacLeod) MacLennan. Mary was raised in New Glasgow, NS and spent many of her childhood summers in Lake Ainslie, NS. She was a proud graduate of Mount Allison University and worked as a Dietician in hospitals in both Montreal and Halifax. After marriage to Gordon, she took on the job of raising her three boys in Halifax as well as Stanhope, PEI. She attended more minor hockey games and high school/ university football games than most but refused to clean any fish brought home. She loved her summers in Stanhope while gardening, biking and going to the beach. She had a great circle of life long friends. Besides her parents , she was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Neil Kenneth MacLennan of Sydney, NS and two of his daughters, Barbie MacLennan Spears and Libby MacLennan, her sisters-in-law Kathleen (Eric) Love, Phyllis Lawley, Fay MacLennan and Freda MacLennan. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, J. Gordon Lawley; and sons, Jim (Andrea Brinton), Ross (Darlene Shortell-Lawley) and Jeff (Shelley); her grandson, James and step granddaughter, Hanna Nathanson; her nieces and nephews and their families, Cathy Snow, Scottie MacLennan, Shauna MacLennan, David MacLennan, Ginny Todd, Jim Love, Kathy MacKenzie and Nancy McCauley; as well as her MacLeod cousins. Mary was a long time and active member of Bethany United Church, 7171 Clinton Ave, Halifax from where a funeral service will be held on Oct 11th at 7p.m. and live-streamed at https://youtube.com/live/j_Wu9J59ZUk .
