With great sadness, the family announces the passing at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, October 16, 2023 of Miriam Elaine Curtis of Charlottetown, age 78. Born in 1945 at the Prince Edward island Hospital, Miriam was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. Owen and Helene (MacInnis) Curtis and dear sister of Fred (Carole) Curtis, Halifax, NS; Dale (Leonie) Curtis, Hubley, NS and Nancy (Michael) Templeton, Toronto, ON. Lovingly remembered by her niece and nephews, Paige (Kent) Buffington, Denver, CO; Brian Curtis, London, ON; Curtis (Katie), Calgary, AB; Cale (Nil), Vancouver, BC; and Jordan Templeton, Toronto, ON. Miriam lived in Bonshaw, Toronto, and Charlottetown. She attended Queen Charlotte High School and traveled extensively with her parents throughout Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. She lived at St. Peter’s Road Group Home for 20 years and more recently at The Garden Home. Although faced with many challenges, Miriam embraced life without complaint. She was happily employed at Tremploy for many years, a job she loved and took pride in. She enjoyed all things musical and was an enthusiastic sports fan, especially hockey. She took great pleasure in nature - flowers, birds, animals, and all things purple. She welcomed an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Jane Hennessey and the wonderful staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital who provided such compassionate care to Miriam in her final days, and our thanks to the kind caregivers of The Garden Home and St. Peter’s Road Group Home. A private family funeral will be held and Miriam will be interred beside her parents at St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery, Milton. Arrangements entrusted to MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel.
