David V. MACKINNON — Cable Head East

Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, "David Alex" of Cable Head East passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer with his loving wife by his side. Born to the late Alex and Rita MacKinnon on January 12, 1947, he was in his 77th year. He was a faithful and devoted husband of 49 years to his beloved wife Heather (nee Sutherland) and will be forever loved by their children Lori Anderson (Brett), Jill MacKinnon and Ian MacKinnon (Vicki MacInnis). He was also a proud grandfather to Georgia and Mack Anderson who will miss him greatly. He is survived by sisters Bernie Wilson (Ray deceased) and Marie McInnis (Kevin), sister-in-law Mamie MacKinnon, brother-in-law Jerry Simpson, his Sutherland family in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful cat, Spooky. He was predeceased by siblings Kenny MacKinnon, Barbara MacCormack/Simpson, and Emmett (in infancy) and brother-in-law Cliffie MacCormack. David was a well-respected fisherman out of Naufrage Harbour and fished for 59 years. He was also a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan and made sure the Leaf fans knew when the Habs won. Resting at the Dr. Roddie Community Centre, St. Peter’s Bay for visitation on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held in the St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church on Monday, November 6th, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
