A long-time beloved priest for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, died peacefully on November 6, 2023, in Saint Ann Assisted Living Centre in Oklahoma City. He was 94. Father MacAulay, formally of Souris PEI, was the son of Frank and Marguerite (MacPhee) MacAulay. He was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Clinton, Joseph, Peter, Pauline MacPhee, Francis, Bernard, Charles and Eugene all of Souris, Fr. Stephen Adolphus of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Fr. Kenneth of the Scarboro Foreign Missions, Toronto. He is fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law, Estelle MacAulay and Betty MacAulay; as well as many nieces and nephews. Father Gerard graduated from Souris High School and got his under-graduate at St. Dunstan’s University. He received his Masters in Theology from St. Thomas Seminary in Denver and was ordained a priest in Charlottetown on May 23, 1959. He served in many parishes throughout Oklahoma City. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Souris, on Wednesday, November 22, at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the Church Cemetery. Following the Funeral Mass, there will be a reception in the Souris Legion. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund or Harbourview Training Center.
