Peacefully with family by his side, the passing of Captain Malcolm Alexander MacLean, age 90 of Little Sands, devoted and loving husband of 65 years to Betty (Stewart) MacLean, occurred on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge. Born in Murray River, March 17, 1933, son of the late Lemuel and Myrtle (Munn) MacLean, Malcolm worked on his father’s farm in his early years then took up carpentry work for a few years before joining Northumberland Ferries Ltd. for a 42 year long career there before retiring. Post retirement he and Betty enjoyed many traveling adventures including trips to Mexico, Scotland and cruises to Alaska and through the Panama Canal and several cross Canada and USA car trips to visit family. But his greatest joys came from spending time with his family and wide circle of friends and taking any opportunity he had to watch hockey or play golf. Survived by children, Elizabeth (Bill), Malcolm Jr. (Rita), David (Ann Marie), Ted (Paula), Cheryl (Randy), Kathy (Barry), Donnie; fifteen cherished grandchildren, Ashtyn, Rachael, Dustin, Meghan, Leah, Riley, Ricky, Jocelyn, Mandy, Stewart, Braydon, Colby, Josh. Keira, DJ; adored great-grandson, Dawson; cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother, Floyd and his wife Donna; sons-in-law, Ricky and Boyd. Resting at Ferguson Logan Funeral Home with visiting on Thursday, December 14th from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in the funeral home chapel with live stream on Sunday, December 17th at 11 a.m. Interment to take place in the spring.
