The Reverend James Donald Shand Ibbott, loving husband of Winifred Anne “Nancy” (Hyndman) Ibbott, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Garden Home. Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, he was the only child of Rev. James Thomas and Lillian S. M. (Shand) Ibbott. Father Jim was ordained in 1960 and served in the diocese of Ottawa for many years, retiring in 1996. He was an avid stamp collector and rockhound and made beautiful jewelry. Many remember him as a kind and wise man with a good sense of humour and someone who played a formative role in their lives. One of his proudest accomplishments was building the family cottage with his good friend, Harry Hobbs. It has been a place of connection and happy memories for the whole family. In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his children Peter Ibbott (Ruth), Stephen Ibbott (Sara) and Heather Ibbott; cherished grandchildren Sean, Liam, Eda and Charlie. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 28th from 4-6 pm at Belvedere Funeral Home. Jim’s funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Friday, December 29th at 11 am. Interment will take place in St. Martins of Tours and St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Cumberland P.E.I.
