The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Sunday, November 26, 2023, of James Wilbert Evans, of St. Eleanors, aged 97 years. Veteran of World War II. Born in Hespeler, ON, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Hodder) Evans. Survived by a daughter, Wendy Evans (Ron MacDougall); son, Brian Evans; daughter-in-law, Karen Evans; grandchildren, Brian (Louise) MacKinnon, Jaime (Todd) Richard, Justin (Erika) Barrow-Barmak, Sasha Barmak (Brandie Keough), David Evans, Rachael (Greg) Beckingham, Jeannie (Noah) Alley, and Breanna MacDougall (Brett Arsenault); great-grandchildren, Evan, Gina, Austin, Ryan, Payten, Grayson, Oliver and Gigi; and by a sister, June Peck. Predeceased by his wife, Margaret “Jean” (Ryan) Evans; son, James “Jim” Edward Evans; and by a brother, Daniel (Louise) Evans; and by a brother-in-law Carl Peck. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Monday, December 4, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. Visiting hours Sunday from 2-4 p.m. Members of the Summerside Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, will hold a Service of Remembrance, at the funeral home, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Memorial donations, made directly to the Salvation Army Food Bank or the Summerset Manor Equipment Fund would be appreciated. www.moase.ca
