Jean BEAIRSTO (Burke) — Kensington

The death occurred at the Summerset Manor on Friday, December 15, 2023, surrounded by her family of Jean  (Burke) Beairsto of Kensington aged 78 years. Jean was born in St. John’s, NL, June 4, 1945. She was the daughter of Violet (Burke) Cornwell. Loving wife of 58 years to Fred Beairsto. Mother of Dean (Trish) Beairsto, Calgary AB, Greg (Olive)  Beairsto, Kensington PE,  Heather-Mae (Jonathan) Zinck, Dartmouth NS. Dear sister to Wayne (Mary McCaughey) Burke, Clyde River PE. Proud grandmother to Megan (Edward) Lambert, Kensington PE. Michael  (Laine) Beairsto, Summerside PE. Mackenzie Zinck, Dartmouth NS. MaryAnne (Jordan) Masse, Calgary AB and Margaret Zinck, Dartmouth  NS.  Jean  was  also  so happy to be a great-grandmother to Fred and Archie Lambert and Winnie Beairsto. Jean was predeceased by her mother, Violet (Diley) Cornwell; grandparents, Willis and Mae Burke. Father and mother-in-law, Jim and Hattie Beairsto; and brother-in-law, Bob Beairsto. Jean and Fred were married in 1966 in St. Johns, NFLD. Fred’s military career took them from there to Montreal, Bathurst, Hubbards, Dartmouth and then their last move was home to Kensington. Jean was a hairdresser for nearly 35 years. Many laughs and cups of coffee came out of that little salon. Jean had longtime friends from all over who shared her bingo passion and sense of humour. She spent hours catching up with phone calls from all over. Jean held position of President of the Ladies Auxiliary at Canadian Forces Station Mill Cove from 1977- 1982. She also served as President of District 20, PEI Liberal Association for 10 years. She also took great pride in being a member of the Kensington Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #9 Ladies Auxiliary for over 30 years. After Fred’s retirement they spent several winters enjoying their property in Dade City FL. Jean looked forward to this time and was so happy to have friends and family from home. Her door was always open for a meal or a stay. The family would like to express our thankfulness to the staff of the Summerset Manor. The incredible care and professionalism we saw over the last 4 years was remarkable, but the kindness of the last few days will never be forgotten. Special thanks to Dr Peter Mckean and Dr Paul Phelan for continuing her care throughout the years. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home in Kensington for visitation Friday, December 22 from 1-4 p.m. followed by funeral service at 4 in the chapel which will be available to view online on the funeral home’s website. A reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Kensington from 5-7. Members of Branch # 9 Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold a service at the funeral home Friday at 12:30 p.m. If so desired, contributions may be made to the Summerset Manor. Interment will take place at Floral Hills Cemetery. www.davisonfh.com
