It is with heavy hearts and sadness, the family of Kodiak Hebert announce his passing which occurred surrounded by love at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, December 11, 2023. Born on January 19, 2002, he was aged 21 years of Souris, PE. He will forever remain in the hearts of his parents, Jodi (Bobby), and Josh (Amber); along with his siblings, Kyran, Odin, Phoenix, little brother on the way, and step siblings Mat, Emily, and Brenna. Kodiak is deeply missed by his grandparents, Mary Hebert, Louise and David Cull, Richard, and Kim Morris. His special Auntie and Uncle Leona and Gerald Saunders. His Godparents, Lynda and Todd. And his cat, Khaleesi. He is also survived by his multitude of aunts and uncles in PEI, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador, cousins, and his plethora of friends. Especially Caleb, Alissa, Sicilia, Zach, Sasha, William, Greg, Max, Will, his little fishing pal Jacob, his Dungeons and Dragons buddies, and his online gaming community. Also, teachers Graham Townsend and Ilse Ching, without whom he would not have made it through school. Waiting to greet him on the other side, his sweet angel sibling, his Grampy Raymond, his Aunt Megan, and friend Nathan. To know Kodiak was to love him. He was an amazing soul, a great friend, and a wonderful son and brother. He loved his siblings so very much. He enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons, video games, and anyone who knew him knew how much he loved fishing. The world is a little darker without his light in it. In his memory, be a good person. Laugh a little harder. Tell a knock-knock joke. Help someone who needs it. Be like Kodiak, be the light in the world. Special thanks to the Souris Fire Dept first responders, Island EMS, the doctors, and nursing staff of the QEH ER and ICU, Mark Buell, and Fr. Gus. A visitation will be held at Dingwell Funeral Home on Sunday, December 17th from 2-5p.m. A funeral mass will take place at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Souris, on Monday, December 18th at 11a.m. If so desired, donations in memory of Kodiak can be made in trust at the Souris Credit Union or sent to [email protected]. ‘‘I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be.’’
‘‘Don't look for me in the sunsets. Look behind you, I'll be chasing you up the stairs when you turn the lights off.’’ In true Kodiak fashion.
