The death occurred on Monday, December 25, 2023, of William Chappell, husband of the late Lois Ruth Chappell (McDowell), of Charlottetown, age 88. He was the son of the late Earl and Mary (McCabe) Chappell. William was the father of Carlyle (Trish), Merle (Corinne), Ruth Barfoot (Colin), Cheryl Scantlebury (Shane) and Les (Kristen); grandfather of Kimberley (Steve), Andrew (Bethany), Richard (Valerie), Meghan (Grant), Kala (Josh), Christine (Ian), Harrison, Evangeline, Leslie (Josh), Will and Riley; and great-grandfather of Caleb, Felix, Olivia, Madeline, Rhea, Casey, Zoe, Harper, Nicole and Eliana. He is also survived by his brothers, Earl (Melba), and Raymond; sister, Joyce MacKenzie; sister-in-law, Joyce Chappell; and brothers-in-law, Gordon, Barry and Stacey MacInnis. The family would like to thank his long-time coffee buddies, Hill Benoit and Wayne Larter. Besides his parents, Earl and Mary, and his wife, Lois, William was predeceased by his sister, Wanda Sanderson (Sidney); and brothers-in-law, David McDowell and Wendell MacKenzie. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow. There will be no visitation or funeral by personal request. Interment at a later date in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley.
