Passed away peacefully at the Souris Hospital on Thursday, January 18, 2024, with family by her side. Born to the late Alexander and Clara Robertson of Red Point, PE on January 13, 1936, she was joined in life by her beloved husband Waldon and will be remembered as a most loving mom to Brendon (Sonia), Dawn and Karen (Dwayne). Bertie is predeceased by her dear children Blair, Valerie and Trent, her sister Audrey (John) and son-in-law Donnie MacCormack. She is survived by her sister Eileen (Wendell) and will be deeply missed by her in-laws Anita and Huntley. Bertie and Waldon built their happy lives on their homestead in East Baltic and spent 66 loving years together surrounded by community, natural beauty, and many funny stories (often repeated). She was the proud Grammie to her eight grandchildren Melanie, Melissa (Craig), Nick (Melissa), Emma (Kyle), Alexander, Nicholas, Ian and Daniel and great Grammie to Mia, Abby, Callie, and Meleah. Bertie loved children and her grandchildren brought her great joy. She loved nothing more than stepping out onto her summer patio with fresh baked cookies for her brood and their friends. Bertie will be missed by many neighbors, friends, and the Eastern Kings church community where she spent her childhood and adult life, as well as her summer family at Sandy’s Beach. She loved the land where she was born and had many stories of being the tomboy in the family, helping her father farm the land where the Sandy’s beach community now sits. It’s where she learned to swim, spent summers first with her sisters, later with her own children and then watched her grandchildren and great grandchildren thrive and grow into young adults. It’s a true legacy she leaves our family that will last for generations to come. The family would like to acknowledge the care and support given to their mother during the last few years of her life. We would like to thank everyone from family and friends who dropped by with treats, those that visited, and to the Sandy’s beach community that held her up and gave her the support to come to the place she loved. We would also like to thank the staff at the Souris Hospital where she spent the last few months. Dr. Malone, Dr. Bronaugh and the entire nursing team treated her with such compassion. The kitchen and cleaning staff always had a smile and made such a fuss over her. Your kindness will always be remembered. A visitation will take place at Dingwell Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27th, from 3-6 p.m. A funeral celebration will be held at the Kingsboro Baptist Church on Sunday, January 28th, at 2 p.m. with interment to follow in the Kingsboro Cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of Bertie can be made to the Eastern Kings Health Foundation (Souris Hospital) or the PEI Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis.
