On January 18, 2024, at Andrew’s of Summerside, at age 91, Gerald Herman Huestis passed peacefully in his sleep. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 66 years, Dallas “Fern” Huestis, who was the love of his life. Born in Wilmot Valley, he was the son of Effie Elaine (Waugh) and Robert Earle Huestis. Gerald and Fern enjoyed a full life together, filled with travel, camping, boating, motorcycling, square dancing (Lady Slipper Square Dancers) and endless games of cards with friends and family. Together, they were very active in their church (Summerside Baptist Church), and held their Church Family in high regard. Gerald was a much-loved Uncle and Granduncle. Gerald was a proud volunteer fireman of The Summerside Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed working for Speedy Propane, as a propane delivery man. So much in fact, that his handle for their CB Radio was “Speedy Man,” while Fern’s was “Speedy Lady.” Gerald was predeceased by his mother and father; his brothers, Gordon and Wendell Huestis; and his sister, Helen MacKay. He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, David MacKay, Lee Reeves, Don Reeves, and Thane Campbell; and sisters-in-law, Florence Huestis and Erma Huestis. He will be lovingly remembered by his Goddaughter, Alecia Konyk Hall; numerous nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews; his sisters-in-law, Agnes Reeves, Sheila Reeves, and Erma Campbell; his extended family, Church Family, his dear friends, and neighbours. Gerald is resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 1, at 11:30 a.m. Interment later in the Wilmot Valley Cemetery, Wilmot Valley. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m., until the time of the funeral service.
