The death occurred peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 5, 2024, of Jean Ettie MacArthur, of Summerside, aged 93 years. Born in Ellerslie, PEI she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Janet Millar. Lovingly remembered by her husband, Albert MacArthur; her son, Donald (Debbie) MacArthur, and daughter, Dianne (Gerry) Burt. Special grandchildren that she cherished, Christina (Jonathan) Waugh, Thomas MacArthur, Emily MacArthur (Tim Pallen), Andrea Schurman, Heidi Burt (Jacob Robar), and Nathan Burt (Amanda Williams). Also remembered by her great-grandchildren, Charlie Waugh, Dawson Waugh, Abigail Schurman, and Carter Green; her brother, Carl (Toice) Millar; and by many loved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Ivan and Janet Millar, brother Eric (Wanda) Millar, brother in law, Lea (Norma) MacArthur, Herman (Erma) MacArthur, sister in law Doris (Bill) Hayes and Audrey (Lorne) MacDougall. Jean was a gifted teacher who had taught for 36 years at Bideford, Springhill, Northam, Mount Pleasant, and the Air Marshal Johnson schools. She enjoyed traveling and was blessed to spend 27 beautiful winters in Florida. Jean loved spending time with family and it was of the utmost importance to her. Over the years, Jean formed many wonderful relationships but none so dear as with her beloved husband, Albert MacArthur of 70 years. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of the ambulatory care unit at the Prince County Hospital, home care services, as well as the Palliative Care Program for their kind and caring nature. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Wednesday at Trinity United Church Summerside at 10:30 a.m., which will be available to view online on the funeral home’s website after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
