Arlene MacPHAIL — Souris

Surrounded by the love of her family, the death occurred peacefully at Colville Manor on February 1, 2024, of Arlene Adele (Robertson, MacDonald) MacPhail at the age of 89. Born in Kingsboro, PEI, on January 29, 1935, to Robert and Muriel (Dixon) Robertson, Arlene was a loving sister to John (deceased), Elsie Colleen (deceased in infancy) and to her dear Donald Robertson (Marcy). Arlene is survived by her beloved girls, Connie (Peter McQuaid, deceased), Colleen (Norman McIntosh) and Margo (Troy Myers). Also grandchildren, Sonya McIntosh (Danny Baker), Morgan McIntosh, Liz Chaisson, Mike McQuaid (Vanessa Roberts), Heather (Brad Lesperance) and Meaghan (Lukas McCormack), Trevlyn and Rylan Slobodan and dear great-grandchildren, Cameron and Zachary McIntosh; Katie and JP Chaisson; and Poppy and Bo McCormack. Arlene was blessed with two loving husbands, Horace MacDonald and Merrill MacPhail. Arlene worked tirelessly with Horace and took great pride in producing endless delicious meals for potato harvesting times on the family farm in Kingsboro where she was an active member in her church and community. She and Merrill continued their volunteerism in their retirement years in Kilmuir and Montague. Mom was quite involved with the Aqua Fit program at Montague Pool for many years. Arlene's “girls” will remember their mom as someone who faced life with strength and determination, a mom who took such pride in providing a loving and immaculate home for her family and who maintained decades of friendships with the up-east women, as well as friends and neighbours in Kilmuir and Montague. The kindness of neighbours allowed her to remain in her beloved home on John Beere Drive a few extra years. In 2020, she moved to Colville Manor where she was cared for with love and compassion. We are forever grateful to the extraordinary staff for their kindness to Mom in her last years. Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home from where a visitation will be held Sunday, February 4, from 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will be Monday, February 5, at 11 a.m. at the Kingsboro Church, Souris. Interment in Kingsboro Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made online to the PEI Humane Society or the Kingsboro Cemetery. www.dingwellfh.ca
