Suddenly at home on Saturday, February 3, 2024 the death occurred of Charles Kenneth Hynes of Stratford, in his 81st year. Survived by his loving wife of 22 years Carole Hynes (nee Jordan); sons, Mark and Paul; siblings, Elaine Reeves (Ronnie, deceased), Shawna Carmody (Jim Andrews), Lynn Gorveatt (Dale, deceased), Donald (Marylou) and Marilyn Harlem. Remembered with love by his special grandson, Alick Hynes; step-children, Aaron Penny (Tara) and Rhonda Crouse (Jeremy); step-grandchildren, Elliot and Tessa Penny; sisters-in-law, Linda Gordon (Archie) and Glenna Stewart (David); many nieces and nephews; and furbaby Jello (the Beagle). Ken will be sadly missed and loving remembered by many; his best friend Bruce Hillstrom; Tim Horton coffee buddies; weekly pool buddies; all his sailing cohorts at the CYC, especially Donnie Walters; excellent neighbors, Bill and Ann Nicolle; close friends, Chuck and Mary Castle and Joanie Haye and Dale Ross. He will be missed by his latest new friends of the Brendon Currans Barn, the crew at the racetrack Brendon, Kelsey and Oliver, Alby and Debbie Curran; Wilfred “Ookie” and Connor Pouton; Doug MacGregor and David Armattio; all the horses and Ruby the cat. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary (Duncan) Hynes, siblings, Clifford and Roberta “Bobbsey” Lannigan (Neil), mother-in-law and friend, Thelma Jordan, sisters-in-law, Virginia MacLeod and Edith Davey. Ken was a wonderful and solid friend to all who knew him. It was a privilege and honor to have shared his life. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home from where visiting hours will be held Monday, February 12th from 1-2:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 3p.m. Interment will take place later at Murray Harbour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made online to the QEH Equipment Fund or the Murray Harbour Cemetery.
