It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Derek MacConnell, age 51, on Thursday, February 1, 2024 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Alberta. Born October 29, 1972, Beloved son of Melva O’Connor-Rafuse and stepson of Errol Rafuse. Cherished brother of Amber (R.J.) Beaulieu, and uncle D to Vonn, Mela, Char, Lyra, and Tielar. Left to mourn is his chosen bro/cousin Francis (Bonnie Clow) O’Connor, cousins Lukas and Kaiden. Also mourning are uncles Ronnie (Julie) MacConnell, David, Gary; cousins Curtis (Jenna), Justin (Amy), Heidi (John); numerous other relatives; and father Floyd (Judy) MacConnell. Predeceased by grandparents John (Ruth) Yeo & Harriet (Alden) Donald, and Harry (Darlene) MacConnell. Derek was well loved by everyone who had the fortune to know him. Never lost for a kind or funny word and always willing to offer a helping hand. He touched the lives of everyone he met. Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home with visiting on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral Service to take place at Hillcrest United Church Montague, on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2:00 pm with live streaming. Interment to take place at a later date in the spring.
