Isabel Priscilla LEARD (Birt) — Montague

Passed away peacefully in the early morning of Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge, Belfast, PEI. Born in Pisquid, PEI, on May 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Mabel (Jardine) Birt. Isabel married her husband, Frederick Robert (Bob) Leard, on November 4, 1956, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage together before Bob’s passing in May 2022. Isabel was predeceased by her four older brothers, Gerald, Elwood, John, and Edgar. She is survived and is loved and missed by her five loving children, Wally (Kathy), Lorna Murphy (Shawn), Jimmy (Helen), John (Darlene), and Ann Jackson (David); 11 cherished grandchildren, Chelsey, Ryan, Melissa, Kate, Andrew, Jamie, Victoria, Olivia, Emma, Piper, and Sam; and five great-grandchildren, Archer, Miller, Porter, Atley, and Jack. As well as her sisters-in-law, Linda Watt (Willard) and Sally Ross; nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Isabel and Bob raised their family in Pisquid and Montague and later moved to Edmonton, AB where they lived, worked, and had many friends for 25 years. Isabel worked in retail shops in Montague and Edmonton. From Edmonton, they returned home to Montague to enjoy retirement. She was an active community member, lifelong dog lover, and enjoyed curling, golfing, gardening, quilting (making beautiful quilts for her granddaughters’ graduations), sewing, crafting, and puzzles. She was also a long time Eastern Star member. Special thanks are extended to the staff at Dr. John M. Gillis Memorial Lodge. Resting at Ferguson Logan Montague Funeral Home with visitation on Monday, February 19 from 4-6 p.m. An Eastern Star service will be held after visitation hours. A funeral service will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, February 20 at 11 a.m. A video of the funeral service will be available to view later that afternoon.
