With heavy hearts we announce that Robert James Hurry passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, February 6, 2024. He was 91 years old. Robert was born in Charlottetown, PEI on December 10, 1932 .The oldest of four boys, he loved his family and was especially fond of his dad and namesake, Robert, whom he regarded as his hero. On April 10, 1952, he married the love of his life and longtime crush, Davida Kaye Hurry (née Dingwell). They remained happily married for 70 years, until she passed away on May 27, 2022. To know him was to love him. Being a true people-person with an outstanding work ethic, he enjoyed much success and admiration in his career as head buyer with Canada Packers. His most cherished accomplishment though, was his family. As a couple, he and Davida, lovingly raised eight children. As the grandchildren came along, he became the most incredible grandfather as well. Each grandchild's life was enriched by the love of their Grandpa, Grampy or Papa (depending on who you were). Such a caring personality made him very valuable to the community too. After becoming one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he regularly volunteered his time and energy to share the hope he learned from the Scriptures with others. His beautiful manner certainly brought a smile to many faces. Robert was generous, kind and hospitable to all. He was a truly good man. An outstanding husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather and friend. We miss him with all our hearts and shall always hold his memory in the highest esteem. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert Hurry and Enid Owen along with youngest brother, Winston, infant brother, Doug, son, Troy, and granddaughter, Natasha. He is survived by his children, Douglas (Lori), Isobel (Albert) Muhle, Andrew (Donna), Temple (Yvette), Timothy (Terry), Hope (Richard) Barnes, Tarida (Jonathan) Falkenham. He is also fondly remembered by his grandchildren, (Kyle M, Kasia, Caleb, Adam, Eliza, Robert, Duran, Dustin, Kyle H, Dylan, Connor, Kaylea, Lauren, Kiah, and Ireland); great-grandchildren, (Tenicia, Mackenzie, Mayan, Taya, Dominique, Sabre, Lucas, Kamea, Harley, Isla, Neve, Koen, Elowyn, Elliot and Sullivan); and great-great-grandchildren, (Ryker, Tenley, Izzy ); numerous nieces and nephews; and brothers, George (Joan), Nelson (Sandra); and sister-in-law, Linda.
