It is with appreciation for a life well lived, but with heavy hearts, that the family of Jim Casey announce his peaceful passing at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, March 4, 2024. Born in St. John’s NL on August 28, 1940, he was the only son of the late Augustine James Casey and Margaret (McNamara) Casey. Beloved husband of 61 years to Joan (nee Redstone). Devoted father of Sean (Deirdre), Tim (Liz) and Joanne (Jason Horton). Grampie to Ryan (Jenna McCarthy), Dean (Hannah Theriault), Clare (Ryan Graves), Thomas, Brett and Austin. Step-grandfather to Maggie and Siân Evans, and Ciara and Tamara Horton. Step-great-grandfather to Sullivan Woolridge. Jim will be greatly missed by his five sisters, Maureen (Frank) Nolan, Sandra Murphy, Rosemary Gillies, Ruth (Brian) Savaria, and Ursula (Kevin) Stamp. He will be remembered with love by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jim’s philanthropy and business acumen have been well chronicled. His devotion to Joan and his family was what meant the most to him. Always. Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Mass Friday from Holy Redeemer Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place in The Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
