Helen “Dianne” LUTES — Vernon, BC

In loving memory of Helen “Dianne” Lutes. Sitting in her favorite chair, watching TV, Dianne passed away peacefully on Friday evening, February 23, 2024, in her home at the age of 77. Dianne was born January 1, 1947, in Freetown, PEI, where she was raised with her seven brothers and sisters. She met her husband Bernie in Summerside during their first jobs, married and moved out west the following year, settling in Cranbrook, BC, where they would raise their children. Vacations in the early years were spent traveling throughout North America via motorhome, skiing every possible weekend - while fitting in school and work. Following busy careers, supporting their children throughout their education, and dedicating time and service to their community, they moved to Vernon, BC, in the early 2000’s. Retirement in the Okanagan for Dianne consisted of regular rounds of golf and biking with friends. Playing bridge, a good game of wizard, and an evening at the casino were also always on the calendar. She always made sure to attend all of the grandkids’ sporting events, and in later years enjoyed spending time on the back porch, with a glass of wine in hand, watching the youngest ones run through the sprinklers and jumping on the trampoline in their backyard. She loved a good morning coffee, rocking in her chair (always with a book on the go) – and watching her beloved Canucks. She was fiercely dedicated to her family, and “the sisters” back east. She impacted everyone who knew her. She leaves behind her husband, Bernie Lutes; children, Trevor (Naomi) and Lesley; grandchildren, Miranda, Justin, Maxwell and Eli; and sisters, Betty, Paula, Bernadette, Doreen, and Corinne. A rosary prayer and viewing will be held Thursday, March 7 at 7 p.m. with a celebration of life to be held on Friday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at  Our Lady of the Valley Church in Coldstream, BC. She will then return to Prince Edward Island where a funeral mass and interment will take place at St. Malachy’s Church, Kinkora.
