David Bruce MacCALLUM — Charlottetown

June 30, 1939 - April 24, 2024. David Bruce MacCallum passed away suddenly at the age of 84. He was a long-time resident of Charlottetown. Born in St. Peter's Bay, PEI. Survived by his sister Jeannie Gillis and brother Peter (Remy). Celebrating his life are his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Betty, sister Catherine Tanton, brothers-in-law Darold Tanton and Wendall Gillis Sr., as well as nephew David Gillis. David started out his career with the Canadian Armed Forces in his early days before he worked a lengthy career for Veterans Affair Canada in Charlottetown before his retirement. David was a long-time member of Spring Park United Church, as well as a long service member of the Kiwanis Club. He volunteered for CNIB and was always ready to help anyone in need. Walking Victoria Park in the morning and evening was one of his favourite pastimes along with his enjoyment of golf and heading out to his mini home property on Saturdays in St. Peter's Bay to have lunch with his sister. David was an avid writer and known for his “letters” in The Guardian. As per David’s request cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial will take place this coming July at Midgell Cemetery. Donations in David’s memory can be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel.
