The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the O’Leary Community Hospital, O’Leary on Saturday April 13, 2024 of Joseph “Elmer” DesRoches of Summerside, age 91. Elmer was born in Summerside to the late Leonard and Mary-Ann (Peters) DesRoches. Beloved husband of Doris (Gallant) DesRoches and loving father of Jack (Ann), JoAnn (Danny) Thompson, Robert (Joanne), David, Joseph, and Stephen. He dearly loved his Grandchildren and his Great Grandchildren. Survived by his brothers and sisters Allie (Rita), Marie Doucette, Betsy (Bobby) Keough and Don, sister in-law Joyce DesRoches and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Carl, daughter Marie, brothers Jim and Stan DesRoches, sisters Shirley (Ernest) Arsenault, Janet (Robbie) Robinson and brother-in-law Lloyd Doucette. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday April 20, 2024 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Memorial donations in Elmer’s memory can be made directly to the O’Leary Community Hospital or the Prince County Hospital Foundation.
