Margaret Helen ‘‘Peg’’ COKER (Pitre, nee Hughes) — Charlottetown

It is with heavy hearts the family of Peg (Pitre) Coker announces her passing on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Whisperwood Villa in Charlottetown. Peg is survived by her brother, John Hughes (Pauline); and her children, Kathy Jackson (Lenny), Glenn Pitre (Wenda), Bonnie Corish (David), Paulette Brown (Darryl) and Claudia Pitre. Also survived by stepchildren, Barb, Ken, Julie, Keith and Maryellen and their families; and extended family including special sister-in-law, Rose Coker. Along with her parents, Peg was predeceased by her first husband, Jim Pitre, her second husband, Phil Coker, and siblings, Mary, Mildred, Virginia, Gertrude, Irene, Norbert, Martina, Beatrice, James and Joan, as well as numerous beloved extended family members. She is lovingly remembered as Nanny to grandchildren, Stephanie Jackson, Nathan Pitre (Morgan), Isaac Pitre (Ashley), Allison Vankampen (Darren), Monica Butler (Colin), Colin Brown (Jillian) and Graham Brown. She was step-grandmother to 12 and became known as Grandma Peg to Kaitlyn Coker, Jared Coker, Joe Aikens, Ashley Aikens and Megan Aikens. She leaves as well precious great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Lydia Butler and Abigail and Olivia Aikens who filled her heart with joy. Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home, 175 Belvedere Avenue, Charlottetown. Visiting hours will be held from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7th. Funeral mass to be celebrated on Monday, April 8th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church at 3 Pond Street, Charlottetown, with reception to follow at Jack Blanchard Hall. Interment at a later date at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Charlottetown. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
