It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Angus William Beck. He was a loyal, honorable, and kind man whose impact on others was profound. He fought a short battle with pancreatic cancer; one that was long enough that his coworkers, friends, and family could all spend quality time with him in his final days. He passed peacefully on Wednesday May 8, 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital surrounded by his wife and three children. He was 72 years old. Gus was the first-born son to Dr. Malcolm and Shirley Beck (deceased). Gus is survived by his loving wife Donna (nee Jay); his children, Jaymin (Jonathan) Baird, Jeremy (Christine) Beck, and William Beck; grandchildren Maggie (Chris Coscia) Baird, Gabrielle, Alexandra, and Julianne Beck; siblings Gordie (Jane), Callum (Lorraine), Rory (deceased; Gaylene), Norman (Sharon), and Susan (Cosh) Jordan; and special sister Nonie Fraser. He also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, close friends, and colleagues at the McGill Center. He provided care for Islanders for 40 years and their lives were changed for the better because of his dedication and devotion. He will be resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, where visitation will take place on Monday, May 13, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. His Celebration of Life service will happen on Tuesday, May 14, at Central Christian Church at 10:30 a.m. For those who wish to make a donation in his honour, they may do so through the Community Foundation of PEI in a newly created “Dr. Angus Beck Comfort and Care Fund”, which will be used toward mental health initiatives for local individuals and organizations. Online condolences can be left on Dr. Beck’s memorial page at www.belvederefh.com and there will be papers supplied at the wake for anyone who wishes to write a personal memory, story, or reflection of Dr. Beck.
