The death occurred peacefully, with family by his side at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Thursday, May 2, 2024, of John Gillespie, of Springvale, aged 64. He was the son of the late John “Jack” and Lillian Gillespie (MacKinnon). John was the loving father of Shawn Gillespie (Jessica), Melissa Gillespie, and Lilly Gillespie; and cherished grandfather of Bobby, Emma, Brooklynn and Havyn. He is also survived by his siblings, Sam Gillespie (Ruby, deceased), Donalda Doucette (Reggie), Marjorie Dionne (Marc), Valerie Gillespie, and James Gillespie (Sherry Shaw); numerous nieces, nephews and friends; as well as his dearest friend and mother to their daughter Lilly, Jennifer Ballem. Besides his parents, Jack and Lillian, John was predeceased by his siblings, Ruthie Gillespie, Dorothy Wellman, and Gloria Richard. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Monday, May 6th from 5-8 p.m. The funeral will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 7th at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Hartsville Cemetery.
