The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family who loved her, at Prince County Hospital in Summerside on Thursday, May 23, 2024, of Mary Elizabeth Linkletter of Summerside aged 90 years. Mary was born at home in Freetown, PEI, to her late parents, Colby and Elsie (Holmes) Lewis. Survived by her beloved husband, Garth Linkletter; and children, Kent Linkletter, Connie (Jim) Marchbank, Mark (Katherine) Linkletter, Lynn (Marc) Imbeau and Ron (Tracy) Linkletter. Also lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren, Lindsay (Phil) Miller, Lauren (Brent) Craig, James (Leah) Marchbank, Erin Linkletter (Michael Wasnidge), Jonathan (Logan) Linkletter, Gabriel Imbeau, and Nathalie Imbeau; nine great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris Linkletter; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings, Ira (Vanda) Lewis, Claude (Mildred) Lewis, Jean (Don) Longworth, Edwin (Colleen) Lewis, and Shirley (Bruce) Moore; as well as brother-in-law, Leigh Linkletter, and sisters-in-law, Joyce (Ron) Pelham, and Dorothy Linkletter. Mary loved to share stories of her happy childhood on her family’s dairy and potato farm in Freetown. She attended Prince of Wales College and married her beloved husband Garth, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage. Her love for the farming life continued on Garth’s family’s potato farm in Linkletter, PEI. Family was the center of Mary's life, and she was known for her warm hospitality opening their home to many Community Events. She was an active member of Central St. Christian Church, dedicated to spreading the love of Jesus through her work with children, youth, and seniors. Mary and Garth enjoyed travelling together, vacationing in their motorhome and spending time at their home in Florida where they shared happy times with family and friends new and old. Mary had a special gift for encouraging others, making everyone feel valued and loved in her presence. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Cherian and the caregivers at the Prince County Hospital for their compassionate care during Mary's final days.
