Flanagan (Callaghan), Rita Anne Peacefully, with her family at her side, Rita Anne died at the Moncton Hospital on June 21, 2024, after a brief illness. Beloved wife of the late Michael Flanagan; and cherished mother to Sean Flanagan (Cara) and Jill Saunders (Mason); and loving grandmother to Addy, Liam, and Ciaran. Also survived by her aunt, Rita Murphy; her sisters-in-law, Cheryl Callaghan, Dawn Callaghan, Dr. Barb Flanagan (John Rankin), and Cathy Flanagan; brother-in-law, Rob Flanagan; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Pius and Winnie (MacDonald) Callaghan; her brothers, Dr. Harry Callaghan and Frank Callaghan; and her niece Kerry (Callaghan) Ciesielski. Born in Charlottetown, Rita Anne attended St Dunstan's University before completing her training in Halifax to become an x-ray technician. She spent her entire 35-year career working in medical imaging at the Moncton Hospital, retiring in 2007. Traveling was amongst her favourite pastimes, particularly with Mike. Whether walking the beach in Daytona, skiing in Maine, or cruising in the Caribbean, she valued time spent vacationing with her family and friends. Sharing her love of travel with her grandchildren brought her so much happiness; being a grandmother was her greatest joy. Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home with visiting hours on Tuesday, June 25th from 4-7 p.m. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 26th with funeral service from the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
