Smith, Agnes January 21, 1933 - December 30, 2023. It is with heavy hearts and an appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Agnes Smith (nee Trainor), formerly of Kelly's Cross, announces her passing at her daughter and son-in-law's home on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the age of 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Linus Smith and cherished mother of Mary Claire (Ben) Russell and Carl Smith. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Adam (Christy), Sarah, and Katie (Jason). She was the adored GG of her great-grandchildren, Emberly and Paisley, and will always remain in their hearts. She is survived by her brother, St. Clair (Clara); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Mary Ellen Monaghan and Bennett Trainor; sisters, Noreen Smith and Sr Vivien Trainor; and brother-in-law, Francis Smith. Agnes was born in Kelly's Cross and attended college in Charlottetown. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse before moving to Toronto to raise her children and teach for the Toronto Catholic District School board. She retired back in Prince Edward Island in 1983 where she baked, pickled, made jam, quilted, played cards, was a member of the CWL and spent lots of time with friends and family. A funeral mass and internment will be held on Wednesday July, 10, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Parish in Kelly's Cross, PEI.
