MacPhee, Ellen Jane Of Canavoy, passed away on July 5, 2024 after a battle with cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, aged 82. She is survived by her daughter, Melanie; sister, Bernadette; brother, Allan (Marion), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Hugh John and Gladys MacPhee; her brothers, Angus (Theresa), Joe, Duncan, and infant brother, Allan; her sisters, Mary (Victor), Miriam (Lynn), Patsy (Wally), Theresa (Ken), Louise (John), Mary C. (Reggie), and Jean (Jim). Ellen Jane spent her whole life nurturing her faith and relationship with God, experiencing him in the presence of nature, with her many beloved dogs and cats, and in the Church, her spiritual home. Ellen Jane's career as a teacher spanned thirty-eight years. Her teaching career started on Prince Edward Island and then took her to Germany and Quebec with the Canadian Armed Forces. She eventually settled in Winnipeg, teaching there for 25 years. She had numerous good friends and colleagues and was surrounded there by a strong faith community. Ellen Jane was a very creative person. Her love of painting produced many canvases, and she always had her students making wonderful art projects proudly displayed in her classroom, and in the many first communion celebrations she was involved in. Ellen Jane moved back to her beloved island when she retired, making her old farmhouse home a home full of pets, wildflowers and lots of family that visited every summer. Her duties as a Sacristan, at St. Theresa, The Little Flower parish was a service she undertook with deep reverence. She will be deeply missed by all. There will be no visitation by personal request. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at St. Theresa, The Little Flower Roman Catholic Church in Morell at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Mt.
