Williamson (Crockett, Macdonald), Johanna It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Johanna Williamson (Crockett) on June 24, 2024, in Castlegar, BC. Johanna was a remarkable woman, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Charlottetown, PE, in 1934, as Marion Johanna Macdonald, she spent her youth in Charlottetown with her two younger sisters, Jean Isabel and Katherine and their mother, Ina Macdonald. Her father, Jack Macdonald passed away early in her life leaving the four strong women surrounded by dear friends, and family. Johanna was especially fond of the summers spent at the idyllic Inkerman cottage on the North River at the city's outskirts. Johanna graduated from Prince of Wales College and in 1954 with her husband, Garth Crockett, left for Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she worked as a lab technician while Garth completed his master's degree in public health. Johanna gave birth to her first three children, John, Donald, Sara, in Charlottetown, then moved west to Manitoba. Rod was born in The Pas, and Jim in Pine Falls. The family returned to The Pas in 1967, and Garth passed away in 1976. Johanna later married Stan Williamson. She and Stan built a house on The Farm, as we called it, west of The Pas in the Carrot Valley. These were some of the best years of Johanna's life; farming, gardening, camping, and traveling. She and Stan were kindred spirits and there was much love in their marriage. Stan passed away in 2002 and Johanna moved to Castlegar in 2012 to live with her son Jim and his wife Jan. In 1987 Johanna was diagnosed with a terminal illness but with chemotherapy, her positive approach to life, deep faith, and good luck, she survived another 37 fruitful years. Johanna is survived by her five children and their families, including nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
