MacDonald, Connie A beloved community member and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024 at the hospice of the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Born in 1948 in Charlottetown, PE, Connie was the cherished daughter of Reginald and Marion MacDonald (McCabe). Connie's journey through life was marked by her deep love of music and her commitment to helping others. She was a beacon of warmth and kindness, known for her ability to bring people together and make lifelong friends. Her involvement in the music community left an enduring mark and her legacy will continue to resonate with everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Connie's dedication to learning led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1973, followed by a Master's of Social Work from the Maritime School of Social Work in Halifax in 1975. Her passion for helping others guided her to further her education at the Pastoral Institute in Calgary, AB, where she honed her skills and expanded her knowledge. Throughout her career, Connie's compassionate nature and unwavering support for others were evident in her work. She was a pillar of strength and guidance for those in need and her impact on the community was profound. Connie's love for music was a defining part of her life. She sang with various musical groups in Victoria over the years, entertaining audiences with her soulful voice and heartfelt performances. Her last solo performance was at Herman's Jazz Club in Victoria on April 14, 2024. In honour of Connie's dedication to music, a musical scholarship has been established in her name to support young vocalists and U-Jam. Donations to the Connie MacDonald Scholarship Fund can be made in Connie's memory at www.u_jam.ca, ensuring that her legacy continues to inspire further generations of musicians. Connie is survived by her loving son, Cody Pargee and his fiancé, Nikki Wilson. She is also survived by her siblings, Julie Ferguson, Colin and Brenda MacDonald and Anita and Doug O'Neill; along with her much loved nieces and nephews, Adam Ferguson (Kathleen Murdoch), Robert MacDonald (Shannon), Jillian Tupper (Matt), Nicholas MacDonald (Heather), Courtney O'Neill (Mike Ryan) and Holly Dreger (Blair) who held a special place in her heart, as did her great nieces and nephews. Connie's family was a source of immense joy and pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Gary Pargee. A sincere thank you to her treasured friends and the compassionate staff at the hospice for their unwavering support and care during Connie's final days. Their kindness and love were a source of comfort for Connie and her family. A celebration of Connie's life will be held at a later date.
