Gauthier, Edward G. "Gerard" Of North Rustico, PE, passed away peacefully at Beach Grove Home in Charlottetown on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. Gerard was 78 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine ("Geri") Gauthier (nee Gallant) and children, Rachelle Gauthier (husband Glen Gallant and daughters Gabrielle and Emma) and Danielle Gauthier (husband Mike Henthorn and daughters Kathleen and Sara). Gerard's grandchildren were his pride and joy, and they were fortunate to grow up in the warmth of his love He is also remembered by his siblings and their spouses, Pat (Ian McKay), Eileen, Joan (Gavin Gallant), Lawrence (Debbie), Pius (Marilyn), Terry (Paula), Michael (Jennifer), and Michelle (David Pineau); as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Gerard was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Evelyn (Blacquiere); his brothers, Rodney, Albinus, and Brian (in infancy); his sisters, Anne and Paula; and his in-laws, Paula Doucette and Charles (Buddy) Gallant. As a schoolteacher for many years in Summerside, Gerard touched many lives and leaves behind many friends who enjoyed his good-natured personality and quick sense of humour. He loved playing golf and cards, digging clams and fishing, doing cryptoquote puzzles, and singing while playing the guitar. Gerard's family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff at Beach Grove Home who helped us care for Gerard these past two years. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4-6 p.m. Funeral mass at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Gerard survived a stroke at age 59 and spent many years dealing with the impacts on his health and life.
