Geraldine Noreen MACKENDRICK — Cape Wolfe

MacKendrick, Geraldine Noreen The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 of Geraldine Noreen MacKendrick aged 70 years (nee Cooke) of Cape Wolfe. Beloved wife of Bill and cherished mother of Jill Harris (George Ingebrand) of Victoria, British Columbia and Tim (Alana) Harris of Cornwall. Geraldine was the loving grandmother of Ben, Will, and Emma Harris. Geri was born on March 1, 1954 to proud parents, Elmer and Camilla (MacLellan) Cooke of Burton, PE. Geri was the youngest in the family of six and the only girl. She was predeceased by her eldest brother, Everett MacLellan (Kay). Surviving brothers include Allan (Mary) Cooke, Doug Cooke, Denzil Cooke and Alton (Paula) Cooke along with numerous nieces and nephews. Geri will be remembered by all who knew her for her ability to make lifelong friends by showing compassion, listening and most importantly making others laugh. She lit up a room with her beautiful smile. She truly was beautiful on the inside and out. She will be remembered as a dedicated employee, a loving mother, a deeply caring wife, a doting and fiercely protective grandmother and finally a woman who believed in a higher power. Geri was employed with the West Prince Veterinary Clinic for approximately 35 years as the office manager. Later in life she enrolled in the Resident Care Worker program through Holland College. Upon successful completion of the program Geri joined the RCW team in O'Leary, where she took on a role primarily with the Home Care Team. She had a deep love for the clients that she visited. She felt that this was her happy place. Caring for others is what she did best. Geri was extremely involved with the Summerside and area Speak Easy Toastmasters Club. She served in a variety of positions including the position of Club President. She was a very proficient speaker and this talent over a period of time garnered a large array of awards both on a club and provincial level over a 15 plus year period including garnering Toastmaster of the Year for the Club on several occasions. Geri's other interests included travel, especially to Victoria, BC, to visit with Jill and George, also Yellowknife and NWT when Tim and Alana lived there, Relaxing on the deck and in her "She Shed," being involved with church activities (member of O'Leary United Church), entertaining friends and family at our home, attending Ben and Will's hockey games and Emma's gymnastics along with many other family activities. Family was everything to her. She achieved the ultimate goal. She will truly be missed by so many. Geri was a difference maker in this world. So long sweet lady. Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O'Leary with visiting hours Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral on Saturday in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment to follow in the Cape Wolfe United Cemetery.
