Campbell, PhD, John Basil Died peacefully at St. Vincent's Hospital in Ottawa, ON, on August 9, 2024. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (nee Gillis) Campbell and his sister, Adele Campbell. Son of Penelope "Penzie" (nee MacDonald) and Joseph Campbell, he is survived by his siblings, Catherine (Des, dec) MacNeill, Raymond (Inez) Campbell, Frances (Doug) Piercey; and many nieces and nephews. Basil was a graduate of St. Dunstan's University, University of Ottawa and received his PhD from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in Applied Mathematics. He was employed by the National Research Council in Ottawa. After retirement, his passion in genealogical research provided invaluable information for families and genealogical societies across Canada and the USA. He was dedicated to his dogs Happy, Hogan, Sona 1 and 2. We will always carry your memory in our hearts. You will be missed by all who knew and loved you. www.kellyfh.ca
