Poirier, Joseph Allen The death of J. Allen Poirier occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital early in the morning of Tuesday August 20, 2024, with family by his side. Al was born in Summerside on October 23, 1937 to the late Raymond and Flora (Gauthier) Poirier. Beloved husband of Patricia (McAlpine). Loving father to Anne-Marie (Caius) Kim and Cheryl. Beloved Poppa to Chloe and Caius. Survived by sisters, Marjorie Johnson and Johanne (Barry) Rowan; sisters-in-law, Louise Poirier and Norma Arsenault; and brother-in-law, Gaylord (Edna) McAlpine; as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters, Elaine (Fred) Dale, Audrey (Ernie) Arsenault, Evelyn (Gordon) Godfrey, Ruth Perry; and brothers, Lloyd (Henrietta) Poirier, Leo Poirier, Ken (Joan) Perry, Ray Poirier; brother-in-law, Ronald Johnson; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Poirier and Luci Hornell. A Service of Remembrance by 200 (Summerside) Wing of the RCAFA will be held on Wednesday August 28, 10 a.m. at the East Prince Funeral Home to be followed by a funeral mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Interment immediately following at St. Paul's Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for a reception at St. Paul's after interment. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to The Alzheimer's Society of PEI.
