Una Marjorie MACPHERSON (GOODYEAR) — Richmond, BC

MacPherson (Goodyear), Una Marjorie July 1955 – December 31, 2023. It is with heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of our mother, Una MacPherson on December 31, 2023 at age 68 in the comfort of her home in Richmond, BC. Our mother loved her family and was devoted through to her final day with us on earth. Her care, thoughtfulness and legacy will carry on for generations. Our Mom excelled at anything she endeavored but mostly she excelled at being a daughter, wife to Johnny, mother, and grandmother. She was incredibly involved in her children, Jonathan, Erin, and David's lives and was an amazing grandmother to James, Jeoffrey, and Castielle. Mom was humble and practical and despite only being five feet tall, she was a force to be reckoned with! Her talents and accomplishments were many but she was most proud of her heritage and her family. She had an amazing ability to recount stories of her hometown, historical Steveston, BC, and could easily capture a listening ear. Known by many, she was always active in the community, the wife of an RCMP officer, and volunteered with all of our extracurricular programs. She enjoyed travelling but mostly to her second "home" the beloved Prince Edward Island. She loved the red soil, the people, the food, and the kitchen parties! Mom was a 'do-er' and could lead any group successfully but mostly she was our cheerleader and we can look back and say she was always there. She loved to cook and bake, especially for her loved ones. She was amazing at supporting her family and friends through many passions and difficulties – if someone was ever in need, they would often land on our doorstep and our mother would nurture them through their challenges. She was 'Mum' to many who needed a solid figure at any time in their life. Una was a discerning woman of exquisite taste. She always provided comfort and solace while asking little in return. She was a lifelong caregiver, tending to our Dad and the grandkids everyday, and nothing brought her more joy than knowing her family and friends were happy and safe. She would light up any room she entered and has made a lasting impact on many people. Una is lovingly survived by her husband, Johnny; adoring children, Jonathan, Erin, and David (Rebekah Litke); and grandchildren, James, Jeoffrey "JR," and Cassie. Mom was adored by her extended family and in-laws in PEI, Valerie and Llew Robinson, Linda and Bruce MacMillan, Doris and Donald MacDonald, the late Elizabeth and Allen Monkley and parents-in-law, Ross and Anne MacPherson. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends in the Maritimes. A Graveside Committal Service will be held on Saturday August 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 2794 Garfield Road, Belfast, PE. Rev. Roger MacPhee officiating. Reception to follow at Clam Diggers Restaurant, 6864 Water Street, Cardigan, PE. For any questions, please email [email protected]. We would love to see you there and to share in a time of fellowship and stories. The family thank you for supporting us during this difficult time. www.richmondfuneral.ca
