Pang, Dr. Ruth It is with deepest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr. Ruth Pang, age 88 of Summerside, PE, on September 3, 2024, at the Prince County Hospital. Ruth was born and grew up in Hong Kong. She studied medicine in England and became an anesthetist. She moved to Summerside in the winter of 1971. She was the first female physician at Prince County Hospital. After her retirement, she studied and became an acupuncturist, as an alternative medicine to help others and she practiced until the very end. She never stopped learning, from piano when she was a teen, and harp in adulthood. She became an avid gardener after retiring from the hospital. She spent endless hours in her garden with beautiful flowers in the summer. Ruth was a kind, fun loving, caring, and a strong-willed individual. She is survived by her son, John Turner and three grandsons, Owen, Charlie, Finn; two sisters, Suk Chun, Fui Lun; and various nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Yui Man Pang and Che Zing Cheng; brothers, Ho Cheung, Ho Shen, Ho Che; and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Rowe-Turner. A sincere thank you and deepest gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Prince County Hospital for the excellent care during her brief battle with cancer. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home. By personal request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service held. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory can be made directly to the Prince County Hospital Foundation.
