McKinnon (Niven), Gail Marie Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. Gail was a 28-year breast cancer survivor. Born on December 24, 1953, Gail was the middle child to Audrey and Roy Niven and has two cherished siblings, Karen (Bob) and Ian. Gail was married to her husband Brian for 43 years. In sickness and in health, he was by her side. Together they have three daughters, Jennifer (Will), Allison (Ciarán), and Laura (Kyle). Gail has the two best grandchildren, Callum and Sonja. Gail was predeceased by her mother, Audrey; her father, Roy; Roy's longtime partner, Helen; her brother-in-law, Barry; and her father-in-law, Albro. Gail was a passionate Registered Nurse, a graduate from Centennial College. She spent her 43-year career working in several Toronto area hospitals, private home care and in acute care at the Ottawa Hospital and C.H.E.O. She rounded out her exemplary career in long-term care at Andrews of Summerside. Gail was a beloved mother, wife, nana, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many. Known for her quiet kindness. She will be forever missed. A special thanks to Gaylene, the caregivers, and nurses of PEI Home Care and to the entire MAiD team, especially RNs Jaime and Caitlin, and Dr. Sharpe.
