Burkett, Lucas "Luke" It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear son, Luke (Lucas) Burkett, on September 16th, on Prince Edward Island. Growing up in Kincardine, ON, Luke attended Huron Heights Public School and Kincardine District Secondary, a time full of good times and good friends. Being in the school Band and Drama Class were both favorites of Luke's. Post-secondary, Luke found his niche at Miramichi College in New Brunswick where he was the proud recipient of the Principal's Award of Excellence in Game Design, a career Luke had dreamed about since about the age of six. After almost two decades of working in the IT field, Luke knew he had to take on a new challenge. Luke found a brand-new calling in being trained as an Apprentice Carpenter, understandably a huge change in careers. But with characteristic Luke-determination he first completed a Form Work course last spring, and this summer graduated from the intensive Discovery Carpentry course sponsored by the Construction Association of PEI, and from that was working at an internship with a local contractor, C and P Construction. Luke absolutely loved his new career, regaling us every day with tales of what he had learned and accomplished. He was happier at work than he'd been in years. Luke is survived by his parents, Kathie and Tim; his brother, Ryan and sister-in-law, Kelli; his partner, Corinne and her children, Fox and Phoenix; his nephews, Henry and Charlie; his aunts and uncles, Deb and Joe, Kate and John and his cousins; and his feline companion, Bravo. Luke's extreme thoughtfulness, sense of humour and his giving nature was always on display in his relationships with all who know and love him. Luke, you will be forever in our hearts. If you'd like, do consider making a donation to a charity of your choice in Luke's memory. A celebration of Luke's life with family and friends will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Home Reception Room, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. A few words will be spoken at 1:30 p.m. with light refreshments being served.
