Beaton, Donald Fredrick Age 78, of Charlottetown, formerly of Murray Harbour and Belle River, died suddenly at the QEH on October 24, 2024, with family by his side. He was born on April 25, 1946, to the late Fred and Annie (Stewart) Beaton. He is survived by his brother, Malcolm; sisters, Mary Goodwin and Mellie (Vernon) Glover; as well as special niece, Ann (Kenny) Mutch; and several other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother, John; sister, Joyce MacLeod; sisters-in-law, Irene Beaton and Janet Beaton; brothers-in-law, Les Goodwin and Donald MacLeod; and special cousin, Janice MacKay. Donald was a loving brother and family caregiver from which his siblings all benefitted. He spent most of his working life in the fishing industry and from his job plus his hockey playing and coaching of Murray Harbour Bruins he made lifelong friendships. He loved to travel and made many trips to visit his sister Mary in Germany, Florida, and Minnesota. Also travelled to Puerto Rico with his good friend Roy. He enjoyed travelling with family and encouraged us to travel whenever we could. Donald was president of the Eldon Legion Branch #7 for over 25 years and enjoyed playing cards until his eyesight made it difficult. His other forms of entertainment included watching the horse races and attending the casino. As the saying goes he liked to "Stir the pot" and it was usually at his older sisters expense. Donald lived a simple life and didn't require much. He will be forever in our hearts. Until we meet again. Rest in Peace. Resting at Ferguson Logan Funeral Home with visiting hours on Tuesday, Oct 29, from 5-7 p.m. There will be no funeral service by Donald's request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Belfast Cemetery or Belle River Cemetery would be appreciated. www.fergusonlogan.com
