Peter W. KOHLER — Summerside

Kohler, Peter W. The son of Rodney and Euphemia (Scott) Kohler, born in West Green Harbour, Peter passed away on October 20, 2024. Peter graduated from Lockeport High School, and joined the Royal Bank of Canada where he worked for about eight years, taking him from Liverpool to Kentville, to Sydney, to Montreal and eventually to PEI. He fell in love with the Island, left RBC and commenced work in the finance dept of Schurman's in Summerside. Later, he moved to Edmonton and eventually back to PEI. When Peter returned from Edmonton in 1988, he continued his accounting/finance career and served as Office Manager for Inman Plumbing & Heating; following that, he managed the Summerside Medical Center; and moved into retirement with a used book store in Kensington. Peter was an avid stamp and coin collector and dealer since a teenager, buying and selling stamps, coins, and related supplies at many flea markets, on line, and by word-of mouth. He also loved hunting and fishing; nothing was better for him than to spend many hours in a duck or goose blind in some corn field in PEI with his close friend, Ernie Diamond. He loved country music and made many friends. Peter is survived by his wife, Carroll (Jewell) of 42 years; sons, Kenneth, Belnan; Kim (Carol), Cold Lake, Alta.; and daughter Cheryl (Jim), Harriston, ON; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Judy), Lake Echo. Also survived by beloved sister-in-law, Beth and husband, Ivan MacKenzie and nieces, Krista and Kandace, all of Summerside, PE. He is predeceased by brother, Merrill (Bonnie). Friends and family are invited to the East Prince Funeral Home Chapel 245 Pope Road, Summerside for a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 25th, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. with a time of sharing memories at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be at a later date at Kohler Cemetery in West Green Harbour, Shelburne Co. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Peter's memory can be made directly to the Prince County Hospital Foundation.
