Collister, Vera Gertrude It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Vera Gertrude Collister (nee Buote) into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 84. Vera was the beloved wife of Doug Collister, of Mayfield; and the daughter of the late Ernest and Clarice (Peters) Buote. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Garner (Debbie), Daria Meadus (Charlie), and Cory (Kim). Vera was a cherished grandmother to Nicholas, Lindsay (Barney), Brandon (Ty), Merry-Lyn, Joshua (Hayley), Daniel (Maddy), Hailey and Parker; and a great-grandmother to Luukas, Zowie, Cohen, Lena and Sloane. She is survived by her siblings, Vernon Buote (Marion), Geraldine Bradley (Pete), Beryl Doiron (Bernie), Rowena Lawlor (Mike), Faren Buote (Helen), Selwyn Buote (Dottie) and Trevor Buote (Shirley); as well as her sister-in-law, Lise Buote. Vera will also be fondly remembered by her brothers-in-law, Geoff Collister (Bernie); and sisters-in-law, Debbie Watson (Mike) and Kim Brown (Murray). Besides her parents, Vera was predeceased by her son, Leeland; and siblings, Parker, Vance, Raye, Lloyd, Wayne, and Glenn. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico, on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Stella Maris Cemetery.
