Cudmore, Reginald "Clive" The death occurred peacefully at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Friday, November 8, 2024, of Reginald Clive Cudmore, of Charlottetown, age 91 years. Born on November 27, 1932 in Charlottetown, Clive was a well-known haberdasher, businessman, civic-minded volunteer, and avid hobbyist. From his time growing up in Charlottetown, and through many years serving customers at Henderson and Cudmore, opened by his father T. Roy in 1914, he thrived on the many lively conversations and interactions he enjoyed with his many friends and acquaintances from around the Island and afar. As co-owner at the family store he excelled in providing quality men's fashion at the Haberdashery, for a time considered the finest menswear shop east of Montreal. Clive was educated at West Kent School and Prince of Wales College. He spent his working career in Charlottetown and was dedicated to his local community. He was a longstanding Kinsman, supported numerous community causes and minor sports, and attended Trinity United Church and served as an Elder. He was active in the Liberal Party on PEI and served as an Alderman in the City of Charlottetown. He held key positions with both the Downtown Business Association, Charlottetown and Area Development Corporation and served on the Board of Directors of the Menswear Association of America. In retirement, Clive greatly enjoyed his summers out at the old family cottage in York Point where his grandchildren remember days running wild with shoes off for a week and going to bed smelling of salt. Poppy fascinated the kids with his countless adventures growing up as a boy in Charlottetown. Many other tales sprang from his experiences while boating and sailing, flying as a private pilot, and his many travels. When the tales ran out, he loved to recite A.A. Milne poems and stories at family gatherings. Lovingly remembered by wife, Joyce (nee MacKenzie); and her children, Donna, Amanda and Allan, and their families. Survived by son, David and daughter-in-law, Kim Cudmore; and daughters, Marion (Danny) Phalen, and Heather (Michael) McCarthy. Poppy to loving grandchildren, Luke and Erica, Alexa and Charlotte, and Conor, Rory, Liam and Sean; and great-grandchildren, Dominick and Scarlett, and Rowan. Also remembered by nephew, Chris; nieces, Cynthia, Carolyn and their families, and sister-in-law, Ellen Richards. Predeceased by his wife, Erma (MacKinnon); her brothers and sisters; parents, Thomas Roy Cudmore and Marion Easterbrook; brother, Brian and sister-in-law, Beth (Jenkins) Cudmore.
